Two COVID-19 cases at VDC

Team,

Two employees at VDC have tested positive for COVID-19.

The first individual last worked on Wednesday, August 18. It has since been determined that there is no risk to other employees as the test provided a false positive reading from a previous infection from over 2 months ago, and the individual has been cleared to return to work by public health.

The second individual last worked on Friday, August 20. At this time, there are no close contacts identified — the individual worked either alone or were at a safe distance from others throughout the day and during break times, and we are waiting on public health to complete their contact tracing process. They are now isolating at home and we wish them well in their recovery.

We have seen a noticeable spike in reported cases across our locations in the past four weeks.  In all cases, the infections were due to external exposure to COVID-19. We need to double down on our prevention and safety efforts, particularly outside of the workplace. Some countries and cities are experiencing the return of full lockdowns to reduce the spread of the virus variants. We all need to take personal responsibility to ensure we are doing everything we can to avoid the return of lockdowns in BC. Vaccinations provide the best protection available, and mask-wearing, hand-sanitizing and physical distancing, both in the workplace and beyond, will help to stop the spread of the virus. Please do all you can to keep yourself and others safe.

Please continue to complete your self-assessments every day. Report any changes to your health, however minor. If you feel unwell, stay home. If you have any questions, contact our Wellness team immediately ([email protected]; 604-990-3316).
